Privacy Policy
Who we are
OP-SYNTH is developed by Lorenz Wittjen as a private individual (Heißstr. 14, 81369 München, Germany). Questions about this policy: service@blacktext.de.
Data we collect
None. OP-SYNTH does not collect, transmit or store personal data on any server. There are no user accounts, no sign-up, no cloud sync, no advertising and no analytics or tracking SDKs. The app makes no internet connections of its own.
MIDI and audio
OP-SYNTH receives MIDI from controllers you connect over USB, Bluetooth or Network MIDI using Apple's CoreMIDI framework. MIDI messages are processed on your device to play sound and are never sent to us or to third parties. OP-SYNTH generates audio on your device and does not record audio.
Device permissions
- Bluetooth — only to find and connect wireless MIDI controllers you choose to pair.
- Local network — only if you switch on Network MIDI in Settings, to accept MIDI sessions from devices on your own network. Nothing leaves your local network.
- Microphone — iOS requires this entry whenever an app uses an audio engine. OP-SYNTH never records or accesses microphone audio.
You can change these permissions at any time in your device's settings.
Local storage
Your saved patches, MIDI mappings, guided-intro progress and preferences are stored locally on your device. They never leave the device (except as part of your own device backup, governed by Apple) and are removed when you delete the app.
Apple-provided diagnostics
If you have enabled sharing with app developers in your device's analytics settings, Apple may share anonymised crash reports and usage metrics with us. This data is collected and processed by Apple under Apple's privacy policy. You can turn it off at any time (iOS: Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements; macOS: System Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements).
This website
This website uses no cookies, no tracking and no third-party content (fonts, scripts or embeds). When you visit it, the web server processes your IP address and standard request data (time, page, browser) for the technical delivery of the pages and to keep the service secure (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). These server logs are not combined with other data and are deleted after a short period.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and to object, and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority — for Bavaria, the Bayerisches Landesamt für Datenschutzaufsicht (BayLDA). Since the app collects no personal data, there is usually nothing for us to provide; just write to us if you have questions.
Children
OP-SYNTH collects no data from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be published on this page with a new effective date.
